Three and one half (3-1/2 stars). I chose this story because I like this genre. There is something about the mail order bride stories/novels/novellas that fascinate me; this one, as with many others was no exception. I like how the reader used God and His will as part of the plot. I did become aggravated with lead female character Elizabeth - she could be so darn suborn at times, but then again, I am in some ways a lot like her. I'm sure that had plenty to do with my reactions sometimes.However, there a few spelling errors (in the authors defense though, I did read on two different devices). Although the story ius suitable for teenage girls and up, please take note that there are some profanities in the story; nothing major, but something you may want to consider before allowing your youngster to read.

Elizabet didn't know what to do when she was turned down for nursing school. Her sister was married and expecting her first child. She ddn't want to put the burden of her support on the newlyweds. And since the war, marriage prospects were slim. But her sister had an idea. She had found Elizabet a likely husband. He seemed to be a good catch and he was looking for a mail order bride because women were scarce in Colorado. So Elizabet packed her bags and set out on the long way to Colorado. She met a friendly pair, a brother and sister, who lived in the town near her intended's place. They befriended Elizabet and helped her. When Elizabet mentioned her groom's name, she noticed a constraint come over their faces. Was something wrong?
Another tale of fortunate happenings in the face of misfortune. Perhaps God guided Elizabet right to where she was supposed to be. Try this book. I think you will like it. I did.
The premise of the story sounded interesting but the execution of the tale was inadequate and the dialogue was juvenile and not in keeping with the period. The characters left something to be desired as well. Finally, if you're promoting the characters as Christians, they need to behave and speak in a Christian way
Good clean reading, enjoyed the book and want to read more from Catherine Harper. Easy to read and makes one feel the peaceful read.
Elizabet, the mail order bride started out as meek and mild but showed her strength and temper when things got rough.
A well written book with a few editing errors but nothing to mar the story. Thank you for another good book!
I was sorry to finish the book. It was well written and realistic. It had elements of fun and seriousness which were believable. A joy to read.

A sweet tale of a young girl in a desperate situation taking a chance for love and happiness by becoming a mail order bride. An innocent encounter turns the idea of her being a mail order bride upside down, and for her best.
